Our regular business meeting, includes reports from the Masters, the Honorary Secretary, the Treasurer and the Huntsman. We have three Board Members whose terms will expire: Fred Burks who has graciously agreed to continue serving; Kristi Clore and Lindy Sanford. The nominating committee is searching for two new members who would be interested in becoming Secretary and Treasurer relieving Kristi and Lindy.

Staff from the Piedmont Environmental Council, (PEC) joined Bull Run Hunt at the Soderquist Farm Saturday, February 25 for an informal session on the work PEC does in the Piedmont including conservation, wildlife habitat and programs which support the local economy. Heather Richards, VP of Conservation and Rural Programs gave a general overview of PEC’s programs and some recent highlights. James Barnes, Sustainable Habitat Program Manager gave a very informative presentation on how we can manage land for the benefit of wildlife in our area. Heather also introduced the Foxhunters Challenge to the members. Bull Run is participating in the challenge which supports the work PEC is doing in land conservation, habitat management and rural agriculture. A donation of $25 includes membership to PEC for one year. The challenge will run through September 15, 2012 and at the conclusion of the challenge the hunt with the largest percentage of PEC members will receive a 24x36 map of their hunt territory. There will also be two capping fees awarded to the winning hunt and the individual with the largest donation will receive a gift certificate from the Tack Box in Middleburg and a gift from Pinnell Custom Leather in Charlottesville as well as two tickets to PECs hunt ball in the fall.
